Liberty Service Dogs™

Liberty Service Dogs™ will be professionally cross trained to conduct a variety of tasks to assist Veterans with disabilities who experience physical injuries, psychiatric traumas, or a combination of both.

Our priority is to lead the industry in the well-being and positive impact for Veterans matched with Liberty Service Dogs. Special emphasis by our staff is placed on finding the ideal Veteran-Service Dog match, rather than a focus on the first-come, first-serve model.

Liberty Service Dogs will be trained to conduct a wide variety of tasks, but each dog will discover their unique talents through extensive Service Dog training and development. Coordination with each Veteran’s medical providers will be an important phase of the assessment period before acceptance to receive a Liberty Service Dog is determined. We want to ensure Liberty Service Dogs meet the unique and desired needs specific to each Veteran, and that success in improving quality of life with the help of a Liberty Service Dog is attainable.

In 2025, Liberty Dogs will begin accepting applications from Veterans with disabilities who are searching for the new levels of independence that Liberty Service Dogs can provide. Please visit our FAQ page and if there are additional questions, please email us at info@LibertyDogs.org.

Physical Mobility

Liberty Service Dogs™ will be experts at achieving greater physical mobility for our Veterans with spinal injuries, neuropathy, amputations, and other military service-connected injuries. These Service Dogs will be able to retrieve dropped items to reduce fall risks, open and close doors, turn on and off lights, brace Veterans back into a standing position, and many other tasks.

Psychiatric Mobility

Liberty Service Dogs™ assist Veterans with their invisible wounds. Increased psychiatric mobility means mitigating post-traumatic stress (PTS), anxiety, and other brain injuries. Liberty Service Dogs will be trained to disrupt and ground Veterans during episodes of high anxiety and stress, interrupt nightmares, provide an extension of personal space to navigate public areas, and tasks that cater to each Veteran’s needs.

Cross Training

Cross training of Liberty Service Dogs™ will help Veterans who struggle with many primary and secondary service-connected injuries. Often Veterans with disabilities need a Service Dog that is able to conduct a combination of tasks that help with physical and psychiatric traumas such as with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). In addition to all these important Service Dog tasks, the impact of Liberty Service Dogs™ is magnified by their nonjudgemental companionship.
